Based on Philippine statistics, 66% of households are food insecure. NCR is second in the country with the highest food insecurity next to ARMM. Manila belongs to the top 5 cities within NCR with the highest prevalence of malnutrition. Hanabishi donated chest freezers, water dispensers, deep fryers, grillers, food steamers, dish sterilizers, rice cookers, percolators, pressure cookers, and industrial fans to the Better World Tondo facility to make it easy for volunteers to prepare the meals for the under-nourished children. Through the effort of San Miguel Corporation Foundation, young students who fail to pass an aptitude test in their own schools are brought to the AHA! Learning Center at the Better World Tondo facility to enjoy free after-school tutorials, exposure trips, and values formation. The classroom is equipped with water dispensers from Hanabishi, to allow children access to clean drinking water as well.
