  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 tomatoes, diced
  • 500g ground pork
  • 500g tomato sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup banana catsup
  • 1 pork cube
  • 2 dried bay or laurel leaves
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons oregano to taste
  • 1 to 2 teaspoon basil to taste
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • ½ tsp red chili powder to taste
  • Cheddar cheese, grated

How To:

For the Sauce

  1. Place a large skillet on a Hanabishi induction cooker.
  2. In the skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the garlic and onions, then saute until softened and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the tomatoes and continue cooking over low heat.
  5. Add the ground pork, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until light brown.
  6. Add one laurel leaf, water, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Remove the cover, then add the tomato sauce, banana catsup, and pork cube. Stir well to combine.
  9. Add the other laurel leaf, then season the sauce with pepper, oregano, basil, and chili powder.
  10. Cover the skillet and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the flavors to meld together and for the sauce to thicken.
  11. Remove the laurel leaves from the sauce before serving. Adjust seasonings if necessary.
  12. Garnish with parsley and grated cheddar cheese.

For the Spaghetti

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. Drain and set aside.

“Josh Ko Po” BBQ

Filipino BBQ's smoky, savory goodness is a crowd-pleaser. It’s perfect for any occasion, from family get-togethers to festive celebrations.

Ingredients:

  • 4 lbs pork shoulder, sliced into cubes
  • Bamboo skewers

For the Marinade

  • ½ cup banana ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder or 1 cup garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup oyster sauce
  • ¾ cup Sprite or 7-Up

For the Glaze

  • ¼ cup banana ketchup
  • ⅛ cup oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

How To:

  1. Mix the marinade ingredients in an air-tight container.
  2. Place the pork shoulder into the marinade then cover.
  3. Put the marinated pork into the fridge for at least 4 hours but no more than 8 hours.
  4. Mix the glaze ingredients and set aside.
  5. Remove the marinated pork from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, soak the bamboo skewers in water for 15-30 minutes to prevent them from burning when grilling.
  7. To start assembling the BBQ, thread 3-5 pork slices onto each skewer.
  8. Preheat the Hanabishi indoor grill to medium-high heat.
  9. Arrange the BBQ sticks on the grill, then cook for 4-5 minutes per side or as pleased.
  10. Use a brush and glaze the BBQ sticks as you flip it from one side to the other.
